August Month-end Summary

  • Santa Clara County new cases peaked in the middle of August and are now back down to levels slightly below the beginning of the month.
  • Santa Clara County new deaths were flat for the first half of the month and have been rising during the second half.
  • Santa Clara County hospitalizations have fallen during August.
  • As with Santa Clara County, California new cases rose during the first have of the month and declined during the second half, ending with numbers comparable to early July.
  • The number of new deaths in California peaked in mid August and fell during the second half of the month.
  • The total number of daily new cases in the U.S. has largely declined over the month of August.
  • The number of deaths per day throughout the U.S. were largely flat during August.
