We’ve been in lockdown now for one week. Every one in my family is well. Nothing dramatic has changed. Our days are pretty typical.
We go out to get the newspaper after breakfast. It is about a mile round trip and serves as part of our exercise.
Later we take a bike ride, weather permitting. The streets are mostly deserted. It is suddenly easy and quick to cross what used to be busy cross streets. We see a few families in the parks we ride through, playing with their kids. In short it seems like people are mostly following the restrictions.
We had a week or two of perishable groceries. So we will be needing to decide how to replenish them soon. (My wife tends to stock up on items when they are on sale, so for most non-perishable we can probably last a longer time.)
The rest of the time we spend at home. We communicate with friends and our kids (who are both fine) via email or hangouts.
I hate the phrase “the new normal” so I won’t use it here. But I expect our current routine to remain more or less the same well beyond the April 7 supposed end date for the county health order to remain home.
