In L.A. I found out that none of those wonderful computer courses in the Glendale College catalog were actually in the course schedule. I felt obliged to get some kind of training so I ended up taking classes from the Computer Learning Center in L.A. They were one of the few trade schools that offered more than basic introductory programming courses. I took an advanced assembly-language course.
After the first course (and after I received my official discharge papers from the Army in the mail) I headed back to San Francisco to look for a job.
Before long I got a job working for a “body shop,” a company that hired its employees out to other companies. Their specialty was the Burroughs B3500, so my previous experience with that somewhat obscure machine helped land me the job.
